Got locked in the bathroom by a ghost so that was very scary. Love the atmosphere my first time going to this restaurant. The food was immaculate. The second time my server forgot my order and I waited for over an hour for cold microwaved food. So they gave free fried green tomatoes so overall I'd rate this a four out of five

We had a lovely dinner here with family over the holidays. I tried the redfish Hannah which was delicious and I got it with the au gratin potatoes which was a perfect combo! The place was very busy and our server was so sweet and attentive. Would definitely dine here again!

So good! The restaurant was full so we ate in the bar upstairs, which was perfectly fine. They had tables, servers and the full menu so not much different. The fried green tomatoes with 1870 sauce were probably the best fried green tomatoes I've had. The loaded crab cakes were nearly all crab meat with no bread filler. The au gratin potatoes were swimming in cheese (and the good kind, not Velveeta). We also had the Chicken Ya Ya topped with a smoked gouda cream sauce which was quite good. Only disappointment was the Black Bottom Pie. The gingerbread crust was interesting but was overwhelmed with the chocolate ganache and a mound of meringue. Service was friendly and attentive and not rushed. Downtown Meridian is much cuter than expected. We'd definitely go back.

Weidmann's, located in the heart of downtown Meridian, is an interesting restaurant. There is a downstairs dining area and an upstairs sports bar type area. The downstairs feels somewhat fancy, with white table cloths, framed paintings on the wall, and intimate lighting. The food was pretty good. The menu offers quite a variety from pastas, to seafood, to steaks, and other entree options The staff was friendly, and the service was relatively quick. Our server gave us the daily specials and his personal recommendations. We were also given complimentary peanut butter to be served with the crackers already sitting on the table as an amuse bouche. To learn more about the restaurants history and why they serve peanut butter reference the picture that talks about Weidmann's history Some tips: Try one of the local beers on menu (both draught and by the can). Definitely try their complimentary peanut butter. Their shrimp scampi and shrimp and grits were delicious. Also, their upstairs room does trivia on Tuesday, and while their site says 8pm, it actually starts at 7pm (their Facebook has the updated time) Cheers!

Ambiance and character with this place. Loved the historical touches. Go to the bathroom upstairs and see the cool pieces. We got the chicken alfredo, bacon cheeseburger, and red fish with broccoli. Also-do not skip the crab cake on fried green tomatoes oh my-the best. There was a fried green tomato on the burger as well that made it amazing! I loved my drink-good flavor and heavy liquor pours. A for sure stop for a nicer restaurant. But we felt comfortable in jeans. Very clean restrooms.

This is a great place to eat around the Meridian MS area and has been doing it since 1870! Plus, their food captures the flavors of the southern charm and whenever I am down in the area this is the first place I return to. Lunch or dinner, you have to experience the feel and the taste of a time gone by as only Weidmann's can. I usually get one of their redfish dishes (Redfish Hannah being one of my favs). Take some time to dine down south and you may never want to leave :)

There's a reason places like this stay in business for so long. I love eating here every time I'm in Meridian The place has such history and such an ole school look. You can go as casual or as dressed up as you want and you never seem out of place. Steaks. Seafood. The menu has everything. They have an awesome draft beer menu that includes some unique local options from Threefoot Brewery. I had the special of the day: pan fried redfish with crab & mushroom white wine cream sauce. I wish I could have ordered 2. It was light, crispy and delicious. The service always nice and knowledgeable. If you ever stop Meridian, Weidmanns's is a must.

Mississippi's oldest restaurant. Since 1870! We have been at a conference in Pearl, MS and it was recommended that we eat at Weidmann's in Meridian on the way home to Atlanta. What a Treat! This gem of a restaurant provided us with a wonderful dining experience. The decor is warm and comfortable, with antiques, art, and photos through the years adorning the walls. Kennedy was our server, and she took wonderful care of us! One of the managers stopped by during our meal to check on us, and we had a very nice conversation with Molly, another manager, after our meal. We started with the best fried green tomatoes we've ever had! The addition of 1870 sauce with shrimp and mushrooms was heavenly. I had the creole shrimp quiche. What a delicious treat, and the mixed fruit cup made it the perfect brunch entree. Laurie had Felix's Mushroom Swiss Burger, which also had a fried green tomato and a fried egg on it. Along with handcrafted potato chips which made for a great meal that I had to help her finish. All in all, this was one of the most perfect dining experiences from start to finish, top to bottom that we've had. We will never pass through Meridian, Mississippi ever again without stopping. We need to check out the fare on all 3 of their menus. If I lived here I would make it my mission to try every single menu item they offer.

Came here because it was close to the hotel and claimed since 1870 on their sign. Came in on a Monday night and was greeted by a friendly hostess including the bar tender. Business traveler so ate alone at bar and started with the gumbo. Great flavor and added hot sauce for some additional heat! The chicken dish was grilled with a crawfish sauce on top and was delicious. Picked a rice dish called hoppin something for the side that was highly recommended by the guy sitting next to me. Will definitely come again on my next visit!

Mar 2023 Came by a few times for dinner, probably one of the better places in the area. Limited vegetarian options though. I sat at the bar both times, downstairs and upstairs. The bartenders were quite busy with drinks over the timeframe. I had gotten the BLT the first night, and the chicken alfredo without chicken the second night. From my understanding, the BLT is just for lunch but I was lucky that it wasn't busy at the time and they were able to accommodate. Both were good. The fried green tomatoes worked well for the BLT adding good texture. The alfredo had nice flavor but I'd say I'd like more veggies to go along with it to balance it out. Without the chicken, it was much too much pasta for me in one go. The bartenders at both were good company which definitely added to the experience. If in the area I'd certainly stop by again for a spell.
